Recently, the Virginia REALTORS®, in collaboration with the Virginia Leadership Academy Alumni Board, hosted the first-ever VLA Alumni Reunion. Alumni from across the state traveled to Virginia REALTORS® for a special event created just for these fantastic REALTORS®!

Members enjoyed a networking luncheon and guest speaker. It was great to hear the buzz in the room while the classes enthusiastically reminisced about their time in the Academy. You could also tell there was a hint of competition in the air as members chatted about which class was best over a BBQ lunch. Pictures were taken of each class and will be available soon.

After the luncheon, the VLA Alumni Board Chair Suzanne Brady shared updates about the behind-the-scenes work of the Alumni. She also announced the opening of the VLA Class of 2019 Application. As a reminder, the application will close on June 29, 2018. If you know an up-and-coming leader in your local association or office, please encourage them to apply, as applications are due soon!

To round out the exciting day, the Alumni welcomed Mark Given, Amazon Best-Selling author and founder of the Trust-Based Philosophy system. Mark engaged the members with lessons and stories about mastering their time and planning for the future. By asking questions like, “What would have to happen in the next three years for you to feel happy with your success?” and “What are your three best ideas for solving the time suck issues?”, Mark facilitated constructive discussion amongst attendees. He also shared insight regarding when to say “yes” and when to say “no”. Overall, the afternoon session with Mark was well received and alumni are already starting to talk about the next event.

On behalf of Virginia REALTORS® and the Virginia Leadership Academy, we want to thank everyone who came out and attended this reunion. It was an achievement for all involved, and we look forward to planning the next reunion in 2020. See you then!
