Are you looking for property management education opportunities in Virginia? The new property management certification, PM Certified, will be launching this fall. The first class will be hosted at PMX 2019. PM Certified coursework will enhance your knowledge of property management law, regulations, agency, leases, rental maintenance as well as provide YOU tools for business and career success. For those new to the property management business, you will stand out as a professional by building better relationships with your clients and customers.

Residential Property Management 101

Foundations of property management – Residential Property Management 101 will sharpen the foundational skills necessary for conducting everyday business. Learn key rules and guidelines, business models, and time management software/systems to enhance your role as a property manager. You will also review strategies to respond appropriately to an emergency or a crisis situation.

Property Managers and the Law

Real estate law for property managers – Don’t get caught off guard! Join your peers in Property Managers and the Law to become familiar with law and regulations. Learn to mitigate risk, educate your landlord and tenants, and understand how to protect your business. Gain confidence in your ability to keep up with ever-changing laws.

Agency Issues for Property Managers

Agency – Agency is a key part of a licensee’s relationship with a client. You are invited to discuss these relationships in more detail. Dive deeper into understanding the roles of the parties involved.

Mastering the Lease

Residential Lease – Master your leasing skills! Take an in-depth look at the residential lease form as well as the addendums to ensure you are providing accurate guidance to your clients. Learn about the landlord’s and tenant’s responsibilities to manage expectations, ensure a working relationship between all parties, and mitigate risk with the property.

FAQ

How does a student graduate from the program?

A student will need to complete all 8 classes within three years and certify that they have at least one year of property management experience or 10 transactions. A student will fill out an application and submit to Virginia REALTORS® for review and processing.

Do the courses need to be taken in order?

A student can take the courses in any order, but we would encourage them to start with Residential Property Management 101 as it includes foundational knowledge for the rest of the coursework.

When are the courses offered?

Each course will be offered at least once a year at the Virginia REALTORS® headquarters in Glen Allen, VA or at a Virginia REALTORS® event. Course dates and locations will be available on the PM Certified calendar located on the Virginia REALTORS® webpage.
